OSCE – Second Dimension
The Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe is the world's largest regional security organisation. Activities in the second dimension include the monitoring of economic and environmental developments among participating States, with the aim of alerting them to any threat to security and stability, while assisting in the creation of policies and related initiatives to promote security and co-operation in the OSCE region. A document is passed when the committee has reached consensus and it is politically, but not legally binding. For Rules of Procedure, click here.
OPEC/IEA
International Energy Agency (IEA), whose members are mostly oil consumers, but also include oil producers among the developed countries, and the Organisation of Petroleum-Exporting Countries (OPEC) meet to discuss the current situation of the oil market, its volatility and vulnerability, and the environmental impacts of global energy consumption. A document is passed only if two-thirds of each group agree on it, and it than shall be binding. Standard MUN Rules of Procedure shall be used, with flexibility allowed at the chair’s discretion, if the debate so requires.
